Choose what your car is doing
A worn, rusted brake disc and caliper

Squeals or grinds when I brake

Usually one of these
  • Brake pads worn to the wear indicator
  • Rotors scored or warped
  • A sticking caliper (if it pulls to one side)
Fair price range
$140 – $360 per axle
Time in the bay
1 to 2 hours, same day
If you wait
Grinding means metal on metal. Every week of it can turn a pad job into pads, rotors and a caliper, roughly double the bill.

A technician holding a diagnostic scan tool

The check-engine light is on

Usually one of these
  • Loose or worn fuel cap
  • Failed oxygen sensor
  • Ignition coil or spark plug misfire
  • Catalytic converter efficiency
Fair price range
$60 to diagnose, credited to the repair
Time in the bay
About 1 hour to a written answer
If you wait
A steady light can wait a few days. A flashing light means a misfire that can wreck the catalytic converter. Pull over and call.

A car on a jack with the front wheel off, showing the brake disc and suspension

It clicks when I turn or clunks over bumps

Usually one of these
  • Worn CV axle or torn boot
  • Worn sway-bar links
  • Ball joint or tie-rod end with play
Fair price range
$120 – $400 for most parts fitted
Time in the bay
1 to 3 hours
If you wait
A clicking CV joint can let go without warning and leave the car undrivable. A torn boot caught early is a cheap fix.

A car on a jack with one wheel removed

It shakes at highway speed

Usually one of these
  • Wheel out of balance
  • Bent rim or a damaged tire
  • Worn tie-rod end or control arm bushing
Fair price range
$60 – $380
Time in the bay
Under 1 hour for balance and inspection
If you wait
A shake that gets worse under braking or on turns is a steering part. Get it looked at before your next highway trip.

An open fuse box under the hood

It clicks or won't start

Usually one of these
  • Weak or failed battery
  • Corroded cable or ground
  • Starter motor
  • Alternator not charging
Fair price range
Jumpstart from $45. Batteries $150 – $230 fitted
Time in the bay
Usually within the hour, at your car
If you wait
If it started with a jump today, it will probably leave you somewhere tomorrow. The test is free and takes ten minutes.

A car on a lift with its underside exposed

There's a puddle under it

Usually one of these
  • Brown or black: engine oil
  • Green, orange or pink: coolant
  • Red: transmission or power steering fluid
  • Clear and watery: AC condensation, which is normal
Fair price range
$0 to look, most seals $100 – $420
Time in the bay
30 minutes to find the source
If you wait
Coolant and transmission leaks get expensive fast once the level drops. Bring a photo of the puddle when you call.

Fresh oil poured into an engine

It's just overdue for service

Usually one of these

  • Filters, fluids and wipers due
  • Tires overdue for rotation
Fair price range
$39 first visit · $129 Tune-Up
Time in the bay
30 minutes to 1½ hours
If you wait
Nothing is broken yet, and that is the cheapest time to find what is about to be.

Straight answers

Do you really come to me?

Yes. Diagnostics, oil changes, brakes, batteries, jumpstarts and used-car inspections can all be done at your home, your job or the roadside within 10 miles of 60th Street. Bigger jobs that need a lift come to the shop.

How do you keep prices low?

A small shop, a posted labor rate of $95 an hour and no dealer add-ons. Parts are listed line by line on a written estimate and nothing starts until you approve it.

What if the job costs more than the estimate?

We pay the difference; that is the Price-Lock Guarantee. The approved estimate is the most you will be charged. If we find something new once a part is off, we stop, send photos and ask. Saying no is always fine.

Can you check a used car before I buy it?

Yes. We meet you at the seller, run a full diagnostic scan, inspect the car and the underside, test-drive it and give you a written report. Book by call, text or DM on Instagram.

Will an independent shop void my factory warranty?

No. The federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act lets you have your car serviced anywhere. We use parts that meet your manufacturer's specification and give you a dated, itemized record of every service.
